Scientists Beleive Venus Could Be Earth’s Twin

Scientists have studied Venus (and every other planet) for years and have made some interesting discoveries. They believe that it is exactly like Earth and yet different in its own ways.

In a news conference at the Paris headquarters of the European Space Agency, the scientists, working on the agency’s Venus Express mission, played up the Venus-as-Earth’s-twin angle in presenting their newest findings, including signs of lightning, surprising swings of temperature and additional evidence that Venus could have once had oceans the size of Earth’s. “They’re really twins which are just separated at birth,” said Dmitri Titov, the mission’s science coordinator. “The key question is why those twins are so different.”

Mars: The Red Planet

Mars (the Red Planet) is the fourth planet from the Sun and the only planet that NASA has sent rovers to try to find some sort of life. Mars is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere, Mars has surface features reminiscent both of the impact craters of the Moon and the volcanoes, valleys, deserts and polar ice caps of Earth. It is the site of Olympus Mons, the highest known mountain in the solar system, and of Valles Marineris, the largest canyon. In addition to its geographical features, Mars’ rotational period and seasonal cycles are likewise similar to those of Earth.

Adventurers Wanted For Mars Experiment

If you have a wish to go into outer space, but are not sure how then this is the perfect thing for you. O.k. so it may not be real, but it is still something that people would want to try. The European Space Agency is trying to find people, with the desire to broaden their horizons, as volunteers for a simulated mission to Mars. This is said the be one of the most challenging space experiments yet.

Discovery Of Mercury’s Fluid Core

Researchers have been stufying the planet Mercury for quite some time and have finally discovered that there is molten fluid inside this tiny planet. This has helped researchers to understand why Mercury has small magnetic field surrounding it.

The magnetic field, which was discovered a few years ago by the Mariner 10 spacecraft, had scientists confused. At that time they were under the impression that the core of the planet had solidified a long time ago. Probably the most common explanation for a magnetic field is a molten interior, such as on Earth.

Size Of Pluto’s Moon Charon Has Been Discovered

The study and research of space is never a dull job and never one that is completed because there are always new things to discover. A new study show us the best estimate of the diameter and heft of Pluto’s moon Charon and suggests that this planet likely has no atmosphere.

Venus: The Sister Planet

The planet Venus, which is known as the ‘morning’ and the ‘evening’ star was named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Venus is sometimes referred to as Earth’s sister planet because they share some similarities. They are almost identical in size, mass, density, and volume. Also they are made out of the same nebula(a diffuse mass of interstellar dust and gas).

Red Planet Surrounded By Night Clouds

Nighttime clouds were detected for the first time on the planet known as Mars help to keep the planet’s surface warm after sunset when temperatures usually drop, a new study suggests. The nocturnal clouds are about five times thicker than their daytime counterparts and stay close to the ground, almost the way a fog does.
