NASA Sees Signs Of Falling Snow On Mars

For quite some time now NASA has been trying to discover whether or not there is water on Mars due to certain pictures that they received from their land rover. That research came to an abrupt end when they discovered that it was snowing on the planet.

The Phoenix Mars Lander that was stationed on the northern pole of the planet and has been there for many months now has been testing the soil for materials that include water, ice, and any other things that could suggest that it could support life. The robot was able to scoop up pieces of ice and managed to send pictures of what looked like old fractures of the surface of the planet and old trails of waterways.

Scientists believe that the discovery showed them snow. “Nothing like this view has ever been seen on Mars,” said Jim Whiteway, lead scientist for the Canadian-supplied Meteorological Station on Phoenix. “We’ll be looking for signs that the snow may even reach the ground.”

NASA stated this week that they have been monitoring that atmosphere around Mars and have recently detected snow falling clouds 2.5 miles above the surface of the planet. The snow evaporates before it touches the ground.
